Gonzalo Espinosa has been exhibiting his work in the United States and Mexico since 1980. He has had multiple solo and group exhibitions throughout his career and has won numerous awards. In southern Arizona he has received multiple public art commissions.

His latest public art commission is a 140-foot mural on the walls of the 22nd street underpass. A public dedication ceremony was held September 24, 2009 at the Tucson Convention Center Grand Lobby. This unique mural has been installed and available for viewing.

Espinosa is also the co-founder of Las Artes arts and education program established in 1993. Las Artes is a youth educational and arts experience program using community art projects to reintroduce youth to formal education and addressing problems facing dropout youth.
The artist is presently exhibiting sculptures and paintinga at the People’s Studio Galley in Main Gate Square on University Ave. If you look closely at this exhibition you will better understand the true passion he demonstrates in his work. His abstract paintings at first may look to you like just a pretty picture but if you look closer you will see the inner artist’s life experiences bursting outward in his brush strokes and the interaction of the colors. A fingerprint of his soul revealed.
He has gained popular recognition for his social work and as an art teacher while at the same time producing his own unique personal work. Few days exist when he is not creating art. He is one of those individuals that found his true purpose in life at an early age and has followed his dreams.
